The “Ladies” of Stop Rush, The Left’s Effort to Silence Conservatives

Irony is fun. My favorite kind of delicious irony is watching self proclaimed “feminists” declare themselves independent of men while simultaneously allowing themselves to be puppets of a man’s agenda.  The females of Stop Rush are brilliant examples of this. They apparently need a real man like a fish needs a bicycle but are happy to do the (unethical and even illegal) bidding of a kitty-man they seem to need like a fish needs water.

Because seriously, ladies.

What hold does Matt Edelstein (aka @Shoq) have over these ladies? It certainly can’t be his looks and, having been on the receiving end of his “charm”, I can only conclude it isn’t that either.

So what, for example, would Gila Jones, a woman from conservative Orange County, CA who is swimming in her family’s conservative Texas oil money, be doing in bed with a radical, free speech suppressing organization like Stop Rush? Perhaps the Capistrano Dispatch, the newspaper Ms. Jones writes for or the misguided souls who supported her failed state senate bid – wherein she posed as a “moderate democrat” – would like to see this email? Nice job. I have no issue with that text, but for perhaps some more interesting words than “vile” might be used.  But those are quibbles we can refine later.

All in all, it’s more temperate, and that’s fine by me.  The less extreme we sound, the more the media is willing to repeat our message.  I almost certainly would have dialed back to something approaching this tone this myself, as I had more had time to ponder our positioning.  I’m glad you did, and glad you spoke up.

Thanks.  Today I had a visit from a of couple very old friends.  They are Republican ladies, Mormons from Salt Lake City.  They know I’m involved in the Stop Rush effort and they think he’s disgusting.  They both remarked about what he’d said about Ms. Fluke. They don’t like Beck, Malkin, or Coulter either.

I don’t think these friends will ever be involved in our effort, as they’re not activist types.  But what about others like them?  I want to be sure that all people, particularly women, who might not share our politics but agree with us about Rush, will read our opening page and feel comfortable joining our cause.

One need not be a Democrat nor a liberal to want to help stop Rush.  If we stay “on message” about Rush’s disgusting language, and stay away from politics, we’ll have a big enough tent to attract many new helpers.

Democrat and failed CA state senate candidate Gila Jones at a political meeting where she supported "two republican candidates" in Orange County, CA.

Fascinating! How lovely that a “moderate democrat” is disguising her extremism in order to make the suppression of free speech more palatable to the average non-thinker. We’ll see if we can locate the Republican candidates that Gila Jones supports to make them aware of her leftist extremist activism.

Attorney Imani Gandy, Los Angeles, CA

Since the left is so diverse, they’d be remiss without their token black person on the team. And in the case of the “Ladies of Stop Rush”, that role is played by Imani Gandy, “recovering attorney”, and former writer for the leftist rag “The Raw Story”. Imani is a typical leftist bomb-thrower who recently got into trouble and lost/left her gig at “The Raw Story”. It seems that one of Imani’s associate writers on her own website, “Angry Black Lady Chronicles”, featured a story about Glenn Greenwald, a leftist writer at “Salon”, and Jeremy Scahill, a leftist writer at “The Nation”, accusing them both of being the Taliban or Al Qaeda for their audacity to oppose Obama’s use of drones. It appears that Imani’s associate tried to leave the leftist plantation of thought with regard to foreign policy was immediately lashed for such transgressions.

Which brings us to MSNBC’s Krystal Ball.  Surely it stretches the limits of journalistic integrity – even for the joke that is MSNBC – for a contributor to be actively involved in Edelstein’s “professional” fascism. While word is MSNBC has asked Ball to suspend her involvement with Stop Rush in the interest of at least a pretense of ethics, not only is she embroiled, she is apparently quite intimately involved.

This would be the same Krystal, you’ll recall, of face dildo sucking fame. Because, war on women.

**Excerpt from a 22 May 2012 email from Shoq to “The team”**

I have had at least 5 “identities” in over 20 years online. None of them has anything ominous, criminal, or unethical about them, but their [Brooks Bayne's] entire point is to somehow “suggest” I am hiding something. It’s classic wingnut tactic, perfected by their hero, Andrew Breitbart.

Gila, Krystal, and Karoli, and plenty of other people in this group know who I am. It’s simply shared on a need to know basis.  I think you can see why.

Well, that seems legit. I think we can all agree that people with nothing to hide invent at least “five identities” over the years for no reason whatsoever.  Interesting that Ms. Ball is a member of the coveted “need to know” inner circle.

Perhaps the juiciest connection is also the most troubling.  Los Angeles attorney Darshann Padilla, who just happens to be Edelstein’s current love interest, based on the fact that Edelstein hosted her in Florida recently (one wonders if she flew Virgin America to Fort Lauderdale… for her tryst), is heavily involved in these anti-free speech shenanigans.  She is quite aware of the phone calls her boyfriend illegally recorded, yet she has decided to do exactly nothing with this information.

I’m just a simple writer, but I very much suspect another high powered I-Am-Woman-Hear-Me-Roar L.A. attorney like Imani’s Stop Rush co-conspirator Darshann, would be quite aware of the legal problem the state of Florida has with recording someone without his prior knowledge and consent.  Both Florida and California are two-party consent states which means both parties need to know that they’re being recorded. I wonder if the State Bar of California would find this illegal little secret, that Darshann and Imani share, as compelling as I do?

Attorney Darshann M. Padilla, Los Angeles, CA

The following email from an angry and panicked sounding Shoq shows that everyone in the group – these three women and others who will be revealed as the story develops – all knew the recording was done illegally.  It also, and this really sweetens the pot, highlights Shoq’s desperation to keep his underhanded and illegal tactics quiet.

That recording only went to a few of us. So who is talking too much?

Even Randy didn’t know he was being recorded.

Someone that one of you is talking to cannot be trusted.

I am not pleased by that.  At all.  Please think carefully.

The fun part, at least for those of us on the right side of history, is that this is very pleasing. The plot is thickening delightfully, is it not?

This is most excellent political fiction! I love how you’ve twisted liberals into the “bad guys” in your fantasy world. I don’t think that a writer has been able to get past the pure hilarity of implying conservatives aren’t the ones destroying real America for a conservative vision that has never existed (and would never last).  Truly brave to take that leap, where most readers will be unable to get past the impossibility of the left playing the role of “bad guy”.  Bravo for taking risks. Such a twist even helps distract from your poor writing ability!

Keep this soap opera going! Oooh- make one of the liberals a vampire or werewolf as part of your conspiracy! Those are popular. (I’d suggest zombie, but they don’t think, so that’s only appropriate for a conservative role.)

       You mad, honey?

Do you have anything constructive to say, or do you *like* sounding completely insane?

funny how the people in question acquiesced to this initial charge from 2 weeks ago, anonymous yahoo account, basically, matt. lol.

    • Mackie72

This woman is a typical Lib elitist. Why don’t they understand that the majority of people in the US are fed-up with their bullshit?

  • Mackie72

Great work as always, Brooks! Very interesting stuff; Lib attorneys breaking the law in CA & FL? Oh that would NEVER happen! Since Rush would love this story, I’d be willing to bet AG Pam Bondi would as well! Yeah, it’s #WAR (Max-wx <-that's me)

Indeed these women need Shoq like a fish needs a bicycle. Are you really going to take the bicycle’s word for it? ‘Cause the bicycle really does like to feel needed.

Regarding Kristal Ball pictures – why are politicians expected to be asexual humorless robots? Why is it normal to do this kind of shit at a party but God forbid if someone takes pictures and you’re running for office?

I get it. Bring out the GIRL reporter so SHE can pick on the girls without making the blog look sexist. Very clever.

    • Stevie West

Or, you little sloth, perhaps the “girl reporter” is disgusted by these so-called feminists and very much enjoyed exposing their nefarious activities and watching the fallout.

What’s it like to see your little pet movement die? Is it a good feeling?
