Whose Side Are They On?

As most of you are aware, we launched The Trenches on May 1st, 2012. We chose that date as an obvious slap in the face to the socialists, Marxists, and other collectivists who support the leftist May Day celebration. Our christening post here that day was an indictment of the media and included a reward for Barack Obama’s college transcripts. We noted that Bush’s transcripts were leaked by The New Yorker (a left-wing publication owned by Samuel Irving Newhouse, Jr.) but they’ve not exhibited the same zeal to leak Obama’s transcripts. Textbook hypocrisy.

Today, Donald Trump made an offer to Obama for all his college records, including all his applications, as well as his passport records, including that application. If Obama releases all this information to Trump, Trump will pay $5 million to the charity of Obama’s choice. Seems like a no-brainer for Obama to cash in on some free and easy money for some left-wing charity he digs, right? My primary criticism of Trump’s presentment is that he didn’t call attention to the leftist media’s leaking of Bush’s transcripts. He had an opportunity to educate millions of Americans to that fact, and he blew that one. Here’s the video of Trump’s announcement:

But what happened after Trump’s announcement today? He gets attacked by Obama shills, of course, but also “conservatives”, or should I say the neocons and “former” leftists. Did these “smart” people forget that Breitbart.com broke the story about Obama and his literary agent pimping him out for years as foreign-born? Remember, Trump called Obama, “the least transparent president in the history of this country.” Shouldn’t we pressure Obama to see if he made those same claims on his college applications?

Jim Geraghty writes for the National Review Online (they’re the ones who fired Derbyshire over leftist fauxtrage):

I can’t think of any first principles conservative who’d consider David Frum a conservative, but he does:

Ah, Mr. Persecution Complex from Persecution Complex Magazine:

And this one has been on a tear condemning everyone who isn’t politically correct or questions her silence over her associations with homosexual felons:

Do these “conservatives” disagree with Trump? Do they think Obama is the most transparent president in American history? Or maybe Malkin is the only one allowed to bitch (she does that a lot) about Obama’s lack of transparency. I thought conservatives weren’t supposed to attack one another – in reality, we all know that’s a silly platitude. Malkin, the former leftist, just attacked Coulter for calling Obama a retard via her Twitchy defamation platform. And as a former leftist, Malkin is awfully concerned about Marxist political correctness, except when she isn’t.

re·tard·ed adjective, \ri-ˈtär-dəd\ : slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress

Looks like the aforementioned “conservatives” are siding with these socialists below. We know whose side these leftists are on, and none of them had a problem with The New Yorker leaking Bush’s college transcripts. As you can see, they’re awfully upset at Trump suggesting Obama should present his college records after he and his literary agent misrepresented his “foreign-born” status:

Oh look, Samuel Irving Newhouse Jr. (you remember him from above, right? Samuel owns The New Yorker, the rag that mysteriously obtained Bush’s college transcripts) gets in on the action via another of his left-wing publications, Vanity Fair:

Mind you, I don’t share Trump’s entire sociopolitical paradigm, or his tax bracket, but what are these anti-first-principles “conservatives” doing to vet Obama? It’s important to note that none of the team here at The Trenches are “birthers”. However, as we presented after the Breitbart.com story regarding Obama’s “foreign-born” literary bio, if Obama lied about being foreign-born during his literary career, wouldn’t it make sense that he may have done the same thing during his educational career?

We’re not attempting to defend Trump overall, but he’s trying to vet Obama, and that’s something we can get behind. Intellectually dishonest leftists, Trotskyites/neocons, and “former” leftists parading as the authority on what is and isn’t “conservative”, we can do without.

Hm. I took it as more of him trying to punk Allred and take some wind out of her BS actions. Trump certainly isn’t a conservative, but it’s nice to see someone with a big microphone taking a poke at the media and Obama. It’s not like the media has anything else to talk about. *koff*

But to your point, it is well taken that we (conservatives – however you wish to define that or “the right”) seem to be playing by the leftist’s rules of behavior. Why is that? I see complaints about the narrative, but there we are ceding PC ground.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

hell, if he’s trying to punk allred, that’s even another reason to support his offer to obama. ;)

glad you got part of the point i was making with regard to fake conservatives who have a much bigger audience by default, and not because they deserve it. they act just like leftists.

They sure do! Some of the “Most Respected Conservative Sites™” blacklisted me for being truthful and asking cogent and needed questions. Then attacked me for being an unsuitable person for the glitterati of the conservative world to associate with. All they care about is paid pageviews, books and paid appearances on talk shows, the hell with the little guy doing it for free, doing it for love of country and even though my right to vote is removed, my obligation to speak out in the public square about our governments abuses isn’t! Screw the faux conservative, all of them are out to steal your cash, your vote and your Liberty. Liars and conmen and thieves, oh my!

I agree with this article. I’m not a Trump fan, but I feel as conservatives we should get behind him and demand bho’s records released. He draws a huge audience, we should use that to our (conservative) advantage.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

after all, it was obama and his literary agent who used the “foreign born” status for years.

These were my sentiments today exactly. While I was listening to some commentators I respect and discussing Trump’s announcement with some co-workers all i heard was scoffing. I couldn’t believe it. I’m thankful Trump has the brass nards to try and vet the President.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

the question: what are all these other retards doing to vet the president?

  • http://twitter.com/gregcfl Greg Central Florida

This is well thought out makes a very good point. Trump isn’t ever going to be the savior of our country, but he has publicity and resources and wants to help vet a president who got a free pass four years ago. We should all be able to stand behind that.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

      indeed.

  • Angie

He’s a complete tool but he’s right. I wish he would have done this a year ago. Good article.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

but that hair… how can you not like that hair?

      • Angie

Now ur just jumping to conclusions. A bad combover does not a douchebag make.

  • http://twitter.com/TheBluto Darth Bluto

I’ve got no problem with Trump trying to shame the media into doing their job; Obama should have been vetted in 2008 and REAL journalists would have done that. Trump overhyped this with talk of it being an election bombshell leaving himself open to lefty mockery, but wtf are supposed conservatives doing jumping on that bandwagon?

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

wait… didn’t these supposed conservatives jump on the derbyshire and akin fauxtrage bandwagons too? noticing a pattern here?

  • SemiSpook

My thinking is he’s already got something, and it ain’t pretty. The $5M is just the front-end of this. Maybe that’s why he didn’t mention anything about the Bush leaks?

  • Debra

This piece highlights many interesting points with good analysis.

Let’s face it, Trump’s successful career has been based on strategy and brilliant business moves. Prodding Obama’s lack of transparency with a charity carrot is a unique twist. I for one want to see the records and transcripts.

The selective outrage of some on the right is disconcerting. Diligence in vetting Obama and advancing first principles should be unwavering. “Whose side are they on?” Indeed.

  • http://twitter.com/Xcitizen10 XCitizen10

It’s funny to see Malkin’s become a bastion of political correctness, given her rise to fame (or should I say “rise to flame”) as a blogger. I distinctly remember her rants during the Bush years railing against political correctness on the the left. Now that she’s in Rinomney’s pocket she’s the Twitter police for him, and head smear merchant of narrative dissenting conservatives. Let’s hope she can keep her fame with this new tactic.

I do agree with you on Trump, Brooks. He’s got an incredible platform to work on, and he’s done the right thing by using his platform (and wealth) to promote conservative issues.

  • http://twitter.com/saraforamerica Sara for America

I agree. I was shocked when “conservatives” hit him so hard. Sure, Trump’s a self-promoter but every single one of his critics above could be criticized for the same thing. He wants what we want – info about Obama – so what was the point behind all of the vitriol? Don’t like his approach? Let it go, don’t beat it to death.

Then I spent an entire morning and afternoon defending Coulter on FB from my conservative friends who were freaking out because Ann supposedly makes them embarrassed to be a conservative. Or something. Whatever.
